Romerías in Tenerife 2018
If you are in Tenerife at any time from April to September, consider yourself lucky as this is the season of the Romerías- one of the most important celebrations in the Canary Islands. These celebrations take place at different times so that you can visit more than one Romería, they are celebrated in many cities and towns on the island.
The streets are filled with joy and folklore to accompany saints patrons and virgins of the city in the processions giving thanks for the good harvests.
Canaries and visitors dress in typical costumes from each town and stroll through the streets with music and carts filled with local products offering food and wine.
Flamingo Suites recommends the most famous - the San Benito Pilgrimage in La Laguna, the festival of San Roque in Garachico, San Antonio de Padua in Granadilla, San Isidro, Los Realejos or San Agustín in Arafo, Arona, Buenavista, La Orotava, San Antonio Abad, and San Marcos in Tegueste that is considered to open the pilgrimage season on April 24. The oldest pilgrimage celebrated in the Canary Islands is Nuestra Señora del Socorro in Guimar, which has more than a hundred years of celebrations.
